Dancing Rituals have been therapeutic across cultures and continents. It is the form of the form of art which is most expressive even in its non verbal form. The Navrasa, Mudras, Classical Postures and Gestures are rich in terms of holding the body, maintaining a stance and reflecting the expression. It does not have bodily benefits but psychological ones as well. Training the body through dance is the most elaborate form of training the mind to deal with daily stressors. It builds up the psychological muscle and retains the mind to think, pause and reflect. And as the evidence based data suggests the most playful mode for engagement and inclusion. The goal of Dance Movement Therapy is to facilitate an understanding about how the participant is moving, behaving and making meaning of their patterns. Also, to gain an understanding of the responses that supports their fears, anxieties and grows more socially confident.
45-60 minutes of warm up and process work followed by personal reflections.
